As a teenager Jennifer struggled to find her own place, with divorced parents and constant moving around, she did not have a solid foundation. Lacking trust in the adults she was given, she searched in other places to feel loved, accepted, and worthy. After many years of looking in the wrong place, she finally found Yoga. Like herself as a teen, she began to see how young girls were consistently looking to boys, and others for approval, worthiness, and love. With this awareness, Jennifer started a small Teen Yoga class called “Shakti-girls Yoga” for Teen girls, supporting girls in shifting their awareness from outside to find a deeper meaning for themselves on the inside, sharing with them ways to cultivate self-discipline, healthy eating and self-care habits. With the success of Shakti Girls Yoga, Jennifer wanted to reach further than her own city; Teen Yoga Box was then imagined and created.
